Terms of Service

Effective [EFFECTIVE_DATE]

Template — replace the [BRACKETED] placeholders and have it reviewed by a lawyer. This is not legal advice.

1 · acceptance

By using val.io ("the Service"), operated by [LEGAL_ENTITY], you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

2 · the service

val.io lets you create shortened URLs and view per-link analytics. Features marked "Pro" require a paid subscription. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time.

3 · acceptable use

You must not use the Service to shorten links to content that is illegal, that distributes malware, that facilitates phishing or fraud, that infringes others' rights, or that violates any applicable law. We may disable any link or account that breaches this section, without notice.

4 · accounts

You're responsible for activity under your account and for keeping access to your sign-in email secure. Sign-in is by one-time magic link; anyone with access to your inbox can access your account.

5 · subscriptions & billing

Pro is billed in advance on a recurring basis through Stripe at the price shown on our pricing page. You can cancel anytime from the billing portal; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period and you retain Pro until then. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable. We may change pricing with notice; changes apply to subsequent billing periods.

6 · links & availability

Short links may expire if you set an expiry, or may be removed if they violate these Terms or if your account is deleted. We provide the Service "as is" and don't guarantee uninterrupted availability or that any link will resolve indefinitely.

7 · termination

You may delete your account at any time from your settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

8 · disclaimer & liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided without warranties of any kind, and [LEGAL_ENTITY] is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from your use of the Service or from links created by users.

9 · governing law & changes

These Terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION]. We may update these Terms; continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. Questions? Email [CONTACT_EMAIL].
